MODULE 8

1. Explain why you selected the video you choose from the selection listed above.

2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?

1.) I chose the video because "The Measure of All Things: Greek Art and Human Figure" because Greek history has always been a favorite topic of mine. Greek art is especially fascinating to me when in ties into mythology and other folklore.

2.) For the video "More Human Than Human" I learned more information of the "Venus of Willendorf". Which was an important discovery by a group of archeologists in 1908. We see an over eexaggerated form, that embodies a female figure. In the video, "The Measure of All Things: Greek and Human Figure" I learned that Greeks were fascinated by the human body and recreating it in their art. They strove for perfect proportions in their works of art, whether it in drawing or sculpture.

3.) The videos relate to the text by providing a more in depth analysis on the topics we covered in the readings. The "More Human Than Human" video, gives us more history on the human figure in the art world than the book. In the second video I chose, we study more about the Greeks obsession with the human body, and how they strove to recreate it in a perfect form.

4.) In my opinion, both films were very informative in relation to our readings in the text. It's very helpful watching the videos that relate to our chapter readings. It helps us understand more as an artist knowing the history of key topics. Figure drawing is something that has always been a struggle for me, so studying more about human form in art was interesting to me.
