Videos: Mod 9

1.) I selected the video about Albrect Durer because he was an artist we had recently discussed in my Drawing class and I was interested in learning more about him. I chose the video about Velazquez because his portraits fascinate me and I wanted to learn more about his life as an artist.

2.) -Albrect Durer: -a German painter and printmaker. He had a reputation in the arts community at a young age because of his high quality wood prints. Durer was amongst the first landscape artists in Europe. His landscapes beautifully play with natural lighting captured with watercolor and gouche,

     -Velazquez: -an educated painter, who had an immense library full of endless amounts of literature and studies. His art captured the moment, and his works were timeless. Velazquez played skillfully with lights and shadows in his paintings. He often worked on his paintings slowly and skillfully, over his lifetime. 

3.) The videos both relate to the reading in the text by giving us and extended background knowledge on the artists from the book. Understanding more of both artist's history can help us analyze their works of art.

4.)I enjoyed both of the films and the way they went through the history of each artist. These video allow us to develop a greater understanding of the artist's ideals and how their life experiences reflect in their paintings.
